We know the vendor search for your wedding can get overwhelming fast! Google is endless and even if a florist has pretty work, how do you decide if they’re the right fit for your style, your budget, and your personality?
Well girl, we’re hoping in with 5 questions you should ask your potential florist to help decide if they’re the right fit for you! Let’s do it!
This is going to open up potential florists to share the personality types and the “level of intensity” they prefer. That can mean they are used to dealing with high end, high expectation couples who typically get married at country clubs and fancy downtown hotels. It could also reveal their preference for clients who give initial inspiration but then step back and let the florist do their thing.
Especially in a large metropolitan like Dallas, where there are tons of florists, you can expect them all to be a little different! Each company you meet with may handle certain aspects of the process in a unique way! Use this question as an opening for discussing what is decor pieces are included. Do they charge extra for candles? Do you need to provide anything? Do they come back at the end of the night to tear down? What about a portrait bouquet? Or a toss bouquet for your reception? Do they offer any additional services or decor options?
This is a great question because it can effect a lot of things! If your wedding venue only allows a 3 hour setup (or charges for additional hours) and you want florals that take longer than that to install, it’s best to find that out way in advance! Will your florist need to bring in extra people to make it happen? How will they charge accordingly? Or maybe your ceremony and reception are in separate places, and they need to determine how best to make sure everything gets to the right place on time. Be upfront about these things to get the clearest quote possible. You don’t want to have additional unexpected charges added on later because this was not discussed in advance.
Not gonna lie, florists see a lot of the same Pinterest photos all. the. time! It might seem fresh and unique to you, but we may have done a wedding exactly like your 10 times this year! This question benefits both you and your florist! They might have some crazy cool ideas just waiting to be made into reality! And you, as the client, will end up with something fresh and totally custom. How about your wedding becomes one of the Pinterest famous events that people are begging for!!
This last one is so 2019, but you know what? It’s a really good opportunity to use your spending power to lift up causes you believe in. Are you all about green practices and saving our environment? Ask what kind of arranging methods they use and their impact on the world around us. Are they foam free? Trying to reduce? Repurposing and reusing where they can? Sourcing from local flower farms?
What about the fight for equality? Do they serve all types of couples? Do you see diversity in their portfolio?
Weddings have a huge economic impact and you can use those dollars for good by supporting small businesses and by choosing companies with practices that line up with your values.
Of course, these are just suggestions and there are tons more questions you could ask any wedding vendor. But we think that alignment between your personality and your vendor team should be priority #1! It the easiest way to be 1000% sure your wedding day will go off without a hitch!
